City of St Charles School District

A Proud Past...An Enlightened Future

  • SCSD Families,

During our BOE meeting last night, a proposed calendar revision was approved by the Board of Education. Our last day of school (in-person and virtual) before winter break is now on Friday, December 18th. This means whatever Tuesday, December 22nd was on the calendar for our different grade levels will now occur on the 18th. It will be an Early Release Day for K-8 & Lewis and Clark, a full day of school for HS (HS has an early out day that Wednesday), and the ECC will follow their unique schedule.

To do this, we are utilizing 2 of our 4 “extra” days (instructional hours beyond the state minimum) that potentially could be used for inclement weather/snow days. So, we’ll now have 2 “extra” days left and still have up to 5 AMI virtual learning days to use for snow days the rest of the school year.

We sincerely hope this revised plan is a HUGE mental boost for everyone and seen as a clear message that our students, staff, and families are truly loved, valued, and seen. It also eliminates another weekend where COVID spread could occur and gives us a full two weeks for winter break. Our hard working students and staff deserve it!

Please note that we continue to closely monitor our newly modified quarantine protocol. There was an update presented to our BOE at last night’s meeting, outlining/reviewing what has transpired, where we are now, and future considerations regarding our protocol. We will continue with our new/modified quarantine protocol. However, we will be sure to keep you updated as things progress.

Thank you for your continued patience, understanding, and support.

    United Together,
    Dr. Jason Sefrit
    Superintendent of Schools
