Attendance & Procedures
Students are expected to be present and punctual for all of their classes throughout the year. Each student's attendance is very important to his/her academic success. The attendance goal for SCWest is for each student to attend school 95% of the time. This averages to not more than 8 days (5 blocks equal 1 day) per year.
Attendance Procedure:
1. The Parent/guardian will call school at (636.443.4245) to inform the attendance office of the student's absence before 8:30 a.m. on the day of the absence.
2. Students are required to bring a note the morning of a doctor's appointment to the attendance office. After the note is received, a pass will be issued to excuse the student from class at the proper time. Also, bring a note back from the doctor's office or have it faxed to us at 636.443.4201 stating the student had an appointment.
3. The parent/guardian needs to send a written note giving the student's name, date absent, reason for absence and his/her signature upon the student's return to be placed in their attendance file.
4. The student will need to go to the attendance office if they are more than 10 minutes late in the morning for an admit slip. If less than 10 minutes late, they should go straight to class and the teacher will assign a tardy.
5. If students are absent less than three days, they should get their homework assignments from friends or from teachers upon returning to school.
6. The student is expected to ask all teachers for make-up assignments. The student will be given one day of attendance to complete work missed for each day of absence up to two weeks. All work missed during the last week of a quarter must be made up to be reflected in the student's grade. Each student is responsible for completing his/her makeup work.
7. If the absence is due to work, travel or for some other reason besides illness or an appointment, the parent/guardian must contact the school principal prior to the absence to make the necessary arrangements for make-up work. If the student has exceeded five days of absences, the absences will not be excused.
