Mr. John Rooneo

Mr. John Rooneo brought his vast machining and manufacturing skillset to Lewis & Clark at the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year.  After graduating from South Tech High School in St. Louis County with a data processing certificate (at the time they did not have a machining program), Mr. Rooneo enlisted in the US Marines as an Aviation Machinist Mate.  After his enlistment ended with an honorable discharge, Mr. Rooneo served a four-year apprenticeship at Precision Machine Company..  After that he had a long career at Emerson where he also became a certified welder, which ignited a life-long passion for making precision molds, dies, and various custom parts. Mr. Rooneo also returned to South Tech High School to acquire a certificate in HVAC. Mr. Rooneo took his talents to other St. Louis area manufacturing facilities where he continued manufacturing and machining injection molds, dies, and fixtures utilizing manual lathes and mills as well as computer numeric controlled (CNC) machines.

Mr. Rooneo is married and has two adult children and two grandkids. He is also an active member in the St. Louis Water Garden Society.  When not teaching at Lewis & Clark, he enjoys spending time with his family, raising koi, fishing, and hiking.

“I enjoy sharing my 35+ years of knowledge and experience and inspiring the next generation of machinists here at Lewis & Clark.”
