Dr. Donna Towers

Dr. Donna Towers was elected to the Board in 2004. She is a retired teacher and administrator from the City of St. Charles School District. Dr. Towers is currently an assistant professor in the graduate education division of Lindenwood University.

She and her husband, Tom, their son, Chad, and daughter, Samantha, are all graduates of SCHS. Her husband is a personnel manager for St. Charles County and both children are educators.

Dr. Marita Malone

Dr. Marita Malone is a retired FBI Special Agent and former assistant professor and chair of the Criminal Justice and Security Management Program at Saint Louis University.

She had also taught and coached at the high school level in Saint Charles. Currently she is a volunteer money manager for seniors, an adjunct instructor at Saint Louis University, a member of the St. Charles County University of Missouri Extension Council, and a contract investigator.

Her Ph.D. is in Public Administration, and her Master's is in Business Administration. Marita's husband Michael is retired from IBM. Marita has three adult step-children, all who went through the public school system.

Mr. Mike Thorne

Mr. Thorne previously served as a City of St. Charles School Board Member from 2001 until 2013. He is a graduate of St. Charles High School and holds a B.S. Degree in Education and a Masters in Sports Science Management.

He retired from the City of St. Charles School District as a teacher and coach in 2005. Mr. Thorne's wife, Gayle, is also a retired teacher from the district. His adult sons and families live in the district. He has four grandchildren that attend the City of St. Charles School District.

Ms. M. Ellen Zerr

Office: Secretary

Ms. M. Ellen Zerr holds a B.S. in Chemistry/Life Science from Missouri S&T and an M.A. in Education from UM-St. Louis. A retired educator, she has taught in various high schools, the most recent being SCW (2000-2004) and SCHS (2004-2018). She is a graduate of SCHS and currently serves as a volunteer tutor at Null Elementary. Prior to her career in education,  she spent 10 years working in the chemical industry.

 
Her daughter, Elizabeth is a graduate of SCW. Her husband, Ward Silver is an electrical engineer and technical writer, and was co-sponsor of the SCHS Science Club.

Mrs. Lori Gibson

Lori Gibson was elected to the school board in April of 2008. She is a freelance actress and an avid volunteer in the community, working with such groups as Habitat for Humanity and the St. Charles School District. She also works part-time for the State of Illinois, training officers in crisis intervention.

Lori has lived in St. Charles for thirty-two years with her husband Rick, a flavor chemist for Firmenich Inc. Their daughter, Courtney, is a 2003 graduate of Saint Charles High.

Mrs. Leslie Knight

Leslie Knight was elected to the school board April 2017. She is currently a Public Information Officer with the St. Charles County Prosecutor's Office. Leslie graduated from St. Charles High School in 1990 and went on to receive her Bachelor's in Social Work and a M.S. in Human Resources Management.

Leslie and her husband, Josh, have two children, Emma and Eli who are part of the district. Josh is an attorney and also graduated from SCHS.

Mrs. Heidi Sikma

Office: Board Member

Current Term: 2021 - 2024

Sikma graduated with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology in 2004. Upon completion of her education, she worked in a private practice counseling and performing psychological testing with children, adolescents, and adults. Her husband, Marc, and her have lived in St. Charles for the past 14 years and we absolutely love the people in this community. She is involved in the community through my service as a volunteer for the non-profit my husband started in 2010, We Love St. Charles (WLSC). 

The Sikmas have three children in the school district: Avery-8th grade at Hardin Middle School, Dawson-6th grade at Jefferson, and Maddox-5th grade at Jefferson. I have been heavily involved in my children’s education within the District by serving and leading on the Parent Teacher Organizations. Over the past 10 years, she has served on multiple district interview panels as a parent representative.
