Hailing from a lineage steeped in educational excellence, Dr. Sefrit's passion for teaching and leadership was kindled in a household where both parents dedicated their lives to public education—a legacy carried forward by his sister, wife, and two nieces. This familial backdrop not only underscores his deep-rooted commitment to education but also hints at it being his destiny.

With an illustrious career spanning 29 years, Dr. Sefrit's journey through the educational landscape is marked by diverse and impactful roles. From his early days as a physical education teacher and high school basketball coach to the strategic responsibilities of an elementary principal, assistant superintendent of human resources, and finally, to the pinnacle of educational leadership as a superintendent, his career is a testament to his versatility and dedication. Currently at the helm of the City of St. Charles School District (SCSD) for 7 years, Dr. Sefrit takes immense pride in leading a district rich in tradition and excellence. Under his stewardship, the SCSD shines as a beacon of educational innovation and community engagement, serving nearly 5,000 students and 1,000 staff members with unwavering commitment and visionary leadership.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Sefrit cherishes his role as a devoted husband to Tanya and a proud father to two accomplished sons, Jackson and James.
