    Wednesday, February 19th 2020:

    -Congratulations to our State Bound Swim Team Athletes:  Tori Krahl is state bound in the 50 yard freestyle & 100 yard butterfly.  Lorelei Crowley is state bound in the 500 yard freestyle. Congratulations and Good Luck Warriors!! 

    ***NHS applications are due 2/21.  Please give to Mrs. Perkins or Mrs. Gengler ASAP!***

    -Attention all SCWest students:  If you have recently lost any items (clothing, water bottles, lunchboxes, etc.), please come to the main office to claim them.  You will need to be able to describe your item.

    -Boys Tennis will have an informational meeting TODAY, Wednesday, 2/19 @ 3:15pm in the Commons for any guys interested in playing tennis this spring.

    -Breakfast Club will be needing a new President for the next school year?  Interested individuals should see Mrs. Perkinson or Jameson Reece for more information.

    -Attention SCW Students & Staff: B.S.U. (Black Student Union) is hosting a Black History Month Spirit Week Feb. 18th – 21st!

    Wednesday, 2/19:  Hump Day

    On Wednesdays (Hump day), students at HBCUs wear their best outfit. On this day, flex that new outfit you just bought!

    Thursday, 2/20:  90s Throwback Day

    Black actors and artists contributed a lot to 90s fashion so, on this day we dress as if we were in the 90s.

    Friday, 2/21:  We are Family Day

    Wear your family reunion shirts or SCW merch!

    -Attention all FINE ART STUDENTS:  The SC West Fine Art Department will be hosting a field trip on Tuesday, April 14th to the Saint Louis Community College where we will be viewing their spring musical, Into the Woods by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine.  If you wish to attend this field trip, please see Mr. Saubers ASAP in room B-105.  All signed paperwork must be submitted to Mr. Saubers no later than Friday, February 21, 2020!  The cost of the trip is $10.00 which includes transportation, admission ticket, and a Papa John's pizza lunch!  This trip is open to all Band, Orchestra, Choir, and Theatre members.  

    -Any athletes interested in participating in a spring sport MUST obtain a tryout card from the activities office before you can participate on Monday, March 2nd.  If you have played a fall or winter sport, you still have to get a tryout card. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Holtgrewe in the Activities office or email her at rholtgrewe@stcharlessd.org.

    Club News

    -Art Club!   We will meet on Monday’s from 2:30-3:30pm in room H108.  Come join us if you are interested in learning some new skills, creating artwork for the school or doing your own projects.  *Starting next week (2/24), Art Club will meet on Monday's from 2:30-3:30pm in room H108.

    -B.S.U. (Black Student Union):  BSU will meet on Friday’s during AIP the library.  Ask Ms. Van Houten to be requested. 

    -Debate Club:  The Debate Club meets after school every Tuesday from 2:25pm to 3:40pm in Ms. Spies room, A104. 

    -HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America):  HOSA is an organization for future health professionals. Anyone who is interested in the health professions are welcome to join. Meetings will be on early out Wednesdays at 1:30pm in Mr. Jameson's room (C100). 

    -Dungeons and Dragons club:  At D&D club we will play and learn the game D&D!  D&D club will meet after school in Ms. Joseph's room (B117) on Tuesday’s until 4:30 PM.  We will have snacks!  Come and join us in the world of D&D!

    -FCCLA (Family, Careers, Community Leaders of America):  Will meet on the last Monday of each month in C114.  All are welcome!

    -GEC: Will meet after school on Thursdays in the library until 4:00 pm.  We hope to see you there!

    -Renaissance:  Will meet after school on Thursdays in Mrs. Hockmeyer's room (A101). 

    -Science Club:  Will meet after school on Monday’s in room #B112.

    -NHS:  Will meet every other Wednesday at 7:00 am in the auditorium.  The next meeting will be February 26th

    -Girls Who Code:  Will meet every B-Day Monday at 2:30 pm in C108.

    -FBLA: Will meet every B-Day Tuesday at 6:45 am in C108. 

    -FOR (Friends of Rachel) Club:  Meeting dates/times will be set at a later date.  If you are interested in joining, please come by and see Ms. Kulage (Roberts) in Guidance!

    -StuCo:  Will meet Thursday’s during AIP.  See Ms. Gates or Mrs. Holland to be added to the AIP list.  All are welcome! 

    Classroom News

    ***AP Students who signed up to take the exam in May:  If you made a partial payment in November, you will need to complete payment for your exam(s) by March 11th.  You can pay anytime now.  See Ms. Gates to make your payment and if you need to know how much you still owe.*** 

    ***Attention SCW Students:  Interested in creative writing? Poetry? The St. Louis Poetry Center is sponsoring a poetry contest for high school students.  Entries are due by March 1st. See Ms. Gates for more information.***

    ***Attention SCW Students:  You will only be allowed to checkout library Chromebooks before school and during AIP.  So plan ahead and be prepared.  If you need paperwork so that you can get your own 1 to 1 Chromebook, see Ms. Gates.  All borrowed Chromebooks must be returned by the end of the day.***  

    ***Attention all SCW Students:  If you have been issued a 1 to 1 Chromebook for use throughout the year, it is your responsibility to bring that device to school charged each day.  Loaner Chromebooks are for students that have broken Chromebooks needing repair or for the OCCASIONAL time when you forget your Chromebook or charger.  They are not here for everyday school use while the one that you have been issued stays at home.  Chromebooks checked out through the library are for day use only and must be returned by the end of the school day.  If you haven't gotten your Chromebook yet, you can still do that.  See Ms. Gates for the required paperwork.***

    ***Students at SCW are not encouraged to bring cell phones or other electronic devices to school.  If students choose to bring such items, they should be turned off and securely stored out of sight during the school day.  Cell phones may be used before school, after school, during passing periods and at lunch only.***

    ***Be sure to join the SCW Library Google Classroom for information and video tutorials related to accessing the online research databases at home and other helpful resources.  The join code is 1gjo93.  See Ms. Gates if you have questions or problems accessing any of the information.***
