  • Transportation Services

    The City of St. Charles School District provides free bus transportation for students living more than one mile from their assigned school. Bus service is also provided to students in an IEP team determines transportation is a related service due to a student's disability.

  • History

    Harris Elementary School, built in 1994, is the newest elementary school building in the district. The school is rich in history and dedicated to the education of children. Originally, the school was located on Country Club Road where it was known as Black Jack School. It became part of the City of St. Charles School District in 1918. It was renamed in the 1960's was Willie M. Harris Elementary in honor of the retirement of a dedicated principal and teacher of the school. 

    The PTO organization and its many volunteers provide tremendous support as the staff, parents, students, and community work together to develop the youth of St. Charles.

  • Before and After School Care

    Before and after school day care services are available at our building through the St. Charles County YMCA. Morning care begins at 6:30 a.m. and after school care ends at 6:00 p.m.

  • Early Release Day Camp

    Childcare on early release days is available through the St. Charles County YMCA. For more information or to enroll your child, call (636) 928-1928.

  • Supply List

    Each grade level team meets yearly to re-evaluate the supplies students will need for the following school year. They make every effort to keep the cost low.

  • School Messenger Notification Service

    The School Messenger System is an automated message system utilized by the City of St. Charles School District. District-wide and school-wide information messages will be sent periodically with news including:

    • inclement weather alerts and cancellations
    • emergency alerts
    • community meeting notifications
    • special event reminders
    Please keep your telephone number and email address up-to-date on your child's emergency card in order to ensure you receive the important Alert Now messages!
  • School Cancellations

    In the event of severe weather, the City of St. Charles School District may choose to dismiss students from school early or cancel events and/or classes for the day. The cancellations are announced through a variety of media outlets including School Messenger, district Facebook, district Twitter feed, and TV channels 2, 4, and 5.

    All families should have an inclement weather plan in the event that school is dismissed early. If inclement weather is forecast, please plan with your child ahead of time so that he/she will know how they may be leaving school, if it will be different transportation than usual.
