Parents as Teachers is a free program available to all City of St. Charles School District residents who are expecting a baby or have children birth to age five.

The City of St. Charles School District is proud to announce that our Parents as Teachers program has moved to a Missouri Curriculum Partner to serve all families in our District that are interested in our program. These services are free to District residents with child prenatal to kindergarten entry.

Parents as Teachers provides four essential components including home visits, developmental screenings, connection to resources, and group connections.

    Home Visits

Our home-visiting professionals meet families where they are comfortable, typically in their homes. During visits, parent educators assess family needs and partner with parents to set family goals. Home visitors provide necessary information and resources to help parents support the emotional, behavioral, and physical development of their children. Each personal visit includes a focus on parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and family well-being.

    Developmental Screenings

We provide developmental screenings within our home visiting program and early childhood center. This opportunity provides parents with information about their child’s development and early detection of developmental delays.

    Resource Connection

We connect families to area resources that can provide supportive partnerships and services for the whole family.

    Group Connections

Throughout our program year, we host a variety of group connections that include parent education nights as well as family activities.

Our goal as a program is to empower parents in their essential role as their child’s first teacher. We want to give all children the best start to their lives through education, partnership, and collaboration with their parents.
