Safety Measures
4E Training
Safety measures in the SCSD are very important to protecting our learning environment. Along with the SafeDefend system, the SCSD also utilizes 4E training. The 4E training is conducted (during the school day) for our students by our very own SCSD SROs from the City of St. Charles Police Department. This training is a crucial part of ensuring that our students and staff understand how to react in the event of an actual crisis that would necessitate the implementation of such measures. 4E stands for Educate, Escape, Evade and Engage, which goes hand in hand with our SafeDefend system, creating the most efficient and effective directives to keep our staff and students safe. You can find an opt-out form in the parent portal of PowerSchool. If for any reason you choose for your student not to participate, please check the opt-out box on the 4E form. With that said, during the second semester, students will have their second SafeDefend drills as well as participate in 4E training.
The City of St. Charles School District takes the safety of our students with the utmost seriousness. While we hope the SafeDefend system does not have to be activated, we are confident that the system and the training for our staff and students make our schools a safer place should a situation ever take place. Parents should contact the school office if they have any questions or concerns about the SafeDefend system and/or 4E training. We appreciate the support of our school community and will continue to do everything in our power to advance the safety of our schools. Together, we engage, empower, and inspire every learner, every day in a safe learning environment.
