About Our Department
The City of St. Charles School Districts special education department is a supportive extension of our exemplary regular educational system. Our district believes in providing students with disabilities the highest quality of service. Services are provided to students (ages 3-21) who qualify under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education guidelines. Following a multi-disciplinary evaluation to determine eligibility, an Individual Education Program or IEP is developed for each child with a disability based upon his or her unique needs. Students may receive specially designed academic instruction and related services such as speech, occupational or physical therapy.
