Letter from Dr. Sefrit 6/3/20
It is my hope that the start to your summer for your family has been a very restful and safe time. As we enter the month of June, I want to share some information with you.
*Graduation plans for July 25th for SCHS and July 26th for SCW are set. Senior families will receive information from their high school regarding specific logistics (times, tickets, safety guidelines, available live streaming, etc) for graduation by the end of this week. The SCHS and SCW virtual senior recognition/award videos will be sent out soon. We are excited to see our seniors graduate later this summer. We sincerely hope seniors and their families have enjoyed the yard signs, billboard, and parades. We love our seniors and have really enjoyed celebrating them in different/special ways through this unprecedented time. There is also good news from our high school parent organizations regarding graduation celebrations. Both groups will be sharing details regarding the “after graduation” celebrations/parties as soon as possible.
*Our athletic directors, coaches, directors, and sponsors are currently working on a plan for facilitating camps/activities for our high school students starting July 1, in accordance with health department guidelines. Please stay tuned for specific information to come from the high school coaches/directors/sponsors soon. Due to time and space limitations (gyms being used for graduations) and health/safety concerns, we will not be able to have elementary camps. Please keep in mind, all SCSD facilities, fields, and playgrounds remain closed throughout June, per the direction of the St. Charles County Health Department. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. Our goal is to get our students back in our facilities as soon as we can, in accordance with health department guidelines to keep our students and staff safe.
*Please remember our food service is continuing with pick-up times (8:30-11:30 AM) on Tuesdays and Fridays at Jefferson Intermediate and Hardin Middle throughout the summer. On Tuesdays, we’re giving families 20lbs of fresh produce.
*Virtual programming options for summer will be available on the District's website beginning June 15 for students in preschool through 8th grade. Virtual activities are provided for reading, writing, math, STEM, and enrichment.
*We are forming a District task force in order to make the best decisions possible for school reentry August 24th. We would like to get your thoughts to help guide our collaboration, decision making, and planning. Please click on this link to complete a quick survey regarding our recent closure and preparation for reentry. Our goal is to inform you in mid-July on what you can expect for school reentry in August. We thank you for your continued patience, understanding, and trust. Together, we will continue to reach, teach, and empower all students in the safest manner possible. Take good care and have a wonderful summer!
